Sound Plurals: Nouns & Adjectives

A1 Regular Patterns

In Arabic, both nouns (like employee, student) and adjectives (like near, young, happy) form regular plurals using the exact same two friendly endings:

MASCULINE PATTERN مُذَكَّر
مُوَظَّف ➜ مُوَظَّفُونَ
muwaẓẓaf ➜ muwaẓẓafūn
employee ➜ male employees

● Add ـونَ to the masculine singular noun or adjective.

Formula: Singular + ـونَ (-ūn)
FEMININE PATTERN مُؤَنَّث
طَالِبَـة ➜ طَالِبَـات
ṭāliba ➜ ṭālibāt
female student ➜ female students

● Replace final ة with ـات (-āt).

Formula: Drop ة + Add ـات (-āt)
